You Can’t Stop Now, It’s Already Begun

Today is my last day as a teenager! Aaah!

Does this mean I have to be all “responsible” and stuff? Nineteen was such a fantastic age, and I’ll miss it. 20. 20?! It’s still sinking in. By October I’ll have come to terms with it.

For some reason I have this idea in my head (and I always have) that at some certain age, I’d stop being myself and become this generic x-aged person. When I was in grade six, I was really scared to start jr. high. I’d read novels about jr. high, and was under the impression that I’d just turn into those characters when I got there. But to my relief, I didn’t! I still had my family and my house and my personality. Now, at nineteen, the sentiment still applies… so, chances are that I won’t turn into some sit-com 20-something. I’ll just be myself still, just 20. Sorry, that was just a weird thought.

Anyway, I’ve always wondered, regardless of when in history they lived, if people think that they’re living in an exciting century. Because I think we’re living in a really exciting century. Things are changing very quickly, and the world has become so small in certain aspects. We have stuff our parents didn’t have. I kind of wonder if I’ll be playing video games with my kids in the future, or if I’ll be shaking my head and saying, ‘okay… I have no idea how to do this…’ like my parents do. I mean, you can in theory just keep up with the things but… they’ll have the billionth Nintendo game system by then. I really wonder where it’ll end. I hope it ends in holodecks, because that would be awesome.

But nothing can change what’s already happened! No matter what, my future kids’ mother will have beaten lots of boys on Warcraft III and owned Diablo (the first one) in three days and gotten a max-level character on GuildWars (I wish people still played that…)

Oh my gosh I’m a nerd. Maybe my age-20 resolution is to get out into the real world more often! Already I’m off to a bad start because for my birthday I got a pink Nintendo DS lite and I love it.

Well… like my buddy Kim pointed out, I’m now only 4 years away from being the same age as the best number (show) in the world, 24!
